From Germany, Strasburg, France was a two hour drive.
  We went regularly for French Pastries.

Our first major trip was to France for 5 days. 
We stopped in Nancy to see the fabulous gilded wrought iron work.

High on my list of "must see" places
were the prehistoric ruins at Carnack.

Of course one must go to Paris when in France.
